Based
in Paphos, Cyprus, where she lives in the middle of an olive grove,
Carole is often asked to write on the fabulous countries in ‘hopping’
distance of the island. For example, she has written or updated guides
to Greece and the Greek Islands, to Egypt, Jordan, Dubai, Jerusalem and
the Holy Lands, the Middle East and the city of Istanbul.
Carole
also writes extensively on Cyprus, itself, for articles and travel
guides. The most recent guides she has worked on have been the DK
Eyewitness Guide Cyprus and the DK Top 10 Cyprus for Dorling Kindersley,
AA Publishing’s Spiral Cyprus and Thomas Cook’s Traveller Cyprus. She is
editor of a Cyprus-based publication and consults on Anglo-Cypriot
projects.
Carole ‘commutes’ to her second home in her native Essex, close to the
border with London in the UK. From here she writes on the capital and
county, along with destinations throughout the UK and Europe. She has
spent lots of time in two of her favourite UK cities, Bath and
Cambridge, for projects, and visited European countries including Malta,
the Benelux Countries, Italy and Sicily, Germany, Spain and France,
including her absolute favourite city of Paris where she once lived.
Carole
is a bit of a restless soul and her travels take her further afield,
too. Her most recent jaunts have been to Thailand and Jamaica, with
return trips to the US, Hong Kong, Australia and the Caribbean islands
(no doubt among others) firmly on the agenda.

Carole
is a BBC-trained journalist with studio and location experience. She is
also a former UK newspaper business editor and has held the position of
editor on more than a dozen magazine titles since the 1980s. Today, she
specialises in travel and real estate articles, guidebooks and online
guides, along with project managing titles and providing a consultancy
service.
Her work has appeared in
many magazines, including ABTA, Homes Overseas, Business Life for
British Airways, b.there for Brussels Airlines and easyJet’s Traveller,
while her travel guides have been published by Dorling Kindersley,
Thomas Cook, Michelin, National Geographic, AA Publishing, Bradt Travel
Guides, Northstar Media, Frommer’s, the Egyptian Tourist Authority and
Philippines Airlines.
An expert on Cypriot
culture, Carole has been asked to advise UK companies on Cyprus-based
projects, along with writing voiceover scripts, compiling business venue
reports and hotel reviews worldwide. She has provided reports on travel
and real estate markets around the world, and is a member of the Homes
Overseas Property Awards judging panel.

Sense and the City
To say Marrakech is
a city for the senses is almost an understatement. One minute you
could be cooking and tasting some of the most exquisite food on
the planet and the next being scrubbed and doused in a hammam. You
can mix with the locals who will almost certainly be engaged in
loud, animated conversation, and then slope off to smell the
flowers in one of the city’s rich gardens. Marrakech has the lot.
It is a city that will capture your heart.
