JEWISH
COMMUNITY

Until 2004, I was
website editor for the
New North
London Synagogue, the largest Masorti (or Conservative)
community in Europe. Previously I edited the Masorti movement's
quarterly, Masorti Matters, and was Masorti's UK press officer,
successfully transforming the image of Masorti, which is now
accepted as the moderate "third way" in UK Jewish observance. I have also been a member of the Board of
Deputies of British Jews, and was involved in a programme to
encourage synagogues to be more environmentally aware. Not included in my cuttings list are my articles on Jewish
subjects, some of which have
appeared in Britain's principal Jewish newspaper, the Jewish
Chronicle.
LOCAL
COMMUNITY

I am chairman of CLAN,
a very active and pro-active local residents' association in NW London.
WRITING
-
As well as my travel
writing, I also write novels and other fiction. In 2005 I
published LOVE online, at
www.lulu.com/andrewsanger.
A tale of youthful rebellion, young love and growing up, it is a
novel set
in the hippy era, which I feel is much mythologised but little understood today. The book is also available from
www.amazon.co.uk. I
have now completed J-WORD, a very different novel, on a Jewish theme.
It will be published by the award-winning independent publisher Snowbooks early in 2009.
